Cavaion
Veronese lies on the hills close to Bardolino.
This land is of ancient wine-producing origins. The
vineyards are almost all extremely modernized.
The historic downtown is rather interesting. Noteworthy
and characteristic are the small pedestrian alleys
paved in cobblestone and bound by high retaining walls:
they are called introi.
The locals are also fond of their “piazza,”
the town square, central meeting point of small rural
courtyards: indeed, it was once the backyard of the
quarter, but also the center of the local town life
during past centuries.
The parish church is an odd kind of building: the
main entrance gate is on the side of the building
while there is only a very small entrance door on
the impressive neoclassical facade.
